Calling for Tairawhiti Community Commissioning Board of Directors Candidates

Applications close: Friday 16 October 2026

We are seeking applications, or expressions of interest from experienced governance people, who are committed to improving the wellbeing and prosperity of Tairawhiti, its people and communities and who believe in local decision-making.

Tairawhiti iwi, communities, service providers, local and central government, and community organisations share a common aspiration: that all our people should enjoy a high quality of life at every stage of their lives.

As a region we have long championed community-led solutions including community commissioning, implemented local commissioning and led the nation in community collaboration. To that end, we have created a charitable company to establish and implement a community commissioning platform for Tairawhiti – beginning with Crown funding and expanding our investment scope over time.

We are now seeking experienced, senior governance people to form the Tairawhiti Commissioning Board. The successful candidates will be put before the community shareholders of the charitable company for their electoral choice. Note that due to potential conflict of interest candidates can not have been staff or Board members of social service providers in Tairawhiti in the past three years.

There has been an establishment Board of four Directors in place since July, some of whom will seek re-election to the permanent Board. The Board will now expand to a five-person Board to take TCC into the future.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Keep decision-making closer to the community
  • Shape how social services are funded and delivered
  • Support long-term wellbeing outcomes for Tairawhiti
  • Be part of a new system for Tairawhiti

The positions will be remunerated at a rate commensurate with the size of the organisation, budget, and responsibilities. If you are interested in being put forward for election and require more information, please contact:
